Double Spiral Rope Chain

Spiral chains are jewelry classics. When constructing a basic Spiral chain from standard round jump rings, the chain is unstable, tending to unwind. Double Spiral and Inverted Spiral are both stable Spiral weaves. Double Spiral (aka Rope Chain) is simple enough for a beginner to construct.

This morning session is designed for beginning and experienced weavers alike. The class will begin with a presentation covering the basics of chain maille (using tools, handling jump rings, opening/closing techniques, common weaving problems and fixes, chain maille terminology, etc.). After the fundamentals, students will learn the classic Double Spiral (Rope Chain) weave by completing a bracelet in sterling silver. Students will also learn to weave it in mirror image – an essential skill for making earrings.

Following this morning workshop is a more advanced Inverted Spiral Chain workshop in the afternoon. Register for one or both!
