Please note: Course photos are typically of an instructor’s individual artwork and represent techniques taught, but not necessarily the exact project that will be completed in class.  If students have questions, please contact us so we can clarify class content and expectations.

Onsite Classes: Withdrawals during Covid-19

Metalwerx is planning to run on-site programs starting again in July 2021!!! Please read our Health and Safety page for details on how we are keeping you safe, what we did to modify our building including limiting class sizes. The status of COVID-19 in Massachusetts, and the rollout of vaccinations, is constantly changing, and we will continue to respond as the situation changes. If you need to cancel a workshop because of COVID-19, please let us know. We have waived our withdrawal fees for onsite classes. Student comfort level is of the utmost priority for our community. We will continue to honor our flexible COVID-19 registration and refund policies for onsite courses. We ask that students withdraw two weeks in advance of their workshop to ensure we are able to run courses and support our faculty. Ensure you’re comfortable with the class size prior to the two-week mark so that Metalwerx has an opportunity to fill vacancies. Class sizes could change as we progress through 2021 and we will keep our students informed.

Withdrawal Options (onsite classes):

We have waived our withdrawal fees for onsite classes.  If anyone is sick or showing any possible symptoms, we ask that you do not come to class. No one will be penalized for being safe and doing your part to stop the spread of this virus! You would be eligible for a refund or credit - Everyone’s collective safety is the most important thing to all of us. We have outlined options below to consider going forward.

  • Course Credit: Metalwerx operates primarily on the revenue collected for upcoming / future courses and events. If you would be willing to accept a full tuition course credit for your class, it would enable us to continue administrative operations and pay our staff while in the throes of this pandemic. You can use this credit towards any other class or workshop through the end of 2022.

  • Refund: It is difficult circumstances like this virus outbreak that can often put a huge financial strain on small arts organizations such as Metalwerx. We understand you may be in a similar situation and can issue a full refund to you upon request.

  • Donation: We have been fortunate to be asked by members of our community how they can help and support us as we wade through these difficult circumstances. If you are someone who wishes to donate your tuition back to Metalwerx, it would mean the world to us. Your generous contribution would not only allow us to continue paying the people that make Metalwerx work, but would provide us with a little financial security as our organization enters the next chapter of this health predicament. Thank you deeply for your consideration.

Virtual Class Withdrawal Policy

Our virtual courses are taught by the same amazing instructors we work with in our on-site programs. Classes are taught live, using zoom, to provide you with an interactive, rewarding experience. If you miss a session, each class is recorded, and participants will have access to the recordings for a month after the class concludes. You can use the recording to review any information you may have missed during the live class session(s).

Withdrawal Options (virtual classes):

For Students who withdraw 14 days or more before the start of a virtual class:
  • Course Credit: A 5% administrative fee will be deducted if a student chooses to keep credit on account which can be applied to other courses in the future. You can keep / use this credit through the end of 2021.
  • Receive a refund: A 10% administrative fee will be deducted from the refund if a student chooses to be reimbursed by check or credit card.
For Students who withdraw 8 - 13 days before the start of a virtual class:
  • Course Credit: A 25% administrative fee will be deducted if a student chooses to keep credit on account which can be applied to other courses in the future. You can keep / use this credit through the end of 2021.
  • Receive a refund: A 50% administrative fee will be deducted from the refund if a student chooses to be reimbursed by check or credit card.
For Students who withdraw within 7 days before the start of a virtual class, it is NOT possible to refund any tuition or material fees because they have already been invested in the course.

Unexpected Cancellations:

If it is necessary to cancel a meeting of any class or workshop due to inclement weather, instructor illness, or other emergency, Metalwerx will notify students as soon as possible. Weather-related cancellations are noted on the voicemail of our main telephone number and on the homepage of our website. If we are unable to reschedule the missed day, we will issue a pro-rated tuition refund.

Metalwerx reserves the right to make changes in classes, workshops, schedules, instructors, and cancel a class or workshop due to insufficient enrollment. If Metalwerx cancels a course, students can choose a full refund by check, credit card, or transfer to another course. If a class has insufficient enrollment, students will be contacted 2 weeks prior to the start date.  We may choose to wait another week to cancel and follow up with registrants on an individual basis, based on their needs.  Metalwerx tries to avoid cancellations whenever possible and is proactive in notifying students to discuss options.

Materials Kit Policy

Metalwerx provides materials kits in on-site classes for our student's convenience. We must estimate costs many months in advance from when we actually order supplies for your class. Due to the volatility of the metals market, all materials kit prices are subject to change. The actual cost of your materials kit will be based on the cost of metal/supplies at the time materials are ordered.

For classes where the materials kit fee is collected in advance:

  • If the cost of a kit has risen, students will be notified in advance and are required to pay for the difference in cost when they arrive at class.
  • If the cost of a kit has gone down, Metalwerx will reimburse the difference to students at class.

For classes where the materials kit fee is collected at class:

  • If there is a significant change in cost, Metalwerx will notify students in advance. Students are expected to pay the actual materials kit fee when they arrive for the workshop.
