ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

Metalwerx is a nonprofit school and community studio located in Waltham, MA, and is committed to promoting the art of jewelry and metals through exceptional classes, workshops, studio space, programming and events for personal and professional development.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Manager is responsible for the development and management of Metalwerx’s educational programming, including day-to-day operations of all classes. Metalwerx currently offers approximately 120 onsite classes and 150 virtual classes annually and expects to grow in 2025. Supporting this critical role will be two direct reports: the Program Coordinator and the Studio Manager. The Program Manager represents Metalwerx in interactions with instructors, students, and vendors with the goal of fostering a supportive, enthusiastic environment for all constituents. Requires occasional travel. This is a full-time, in-person position. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES
 

  • Work with the Executive Director to lead the strategic design and development of Metalwerx’s curriculum, ensuring relevance and financial viability of program topics and course offerings. 
  • Identify and secure instructors, working with them to create comprehensive course. descriptions that include artist statement, course summary, images and materials lists.
  • Create and manage Metalwerx’s annual programming calendar, including timely posting of course offerings.
  • Manage acquisition of equipment, tools and supplies needed for onsite classes through the support of the Studio Manager.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of onsite and online classes.
  • For virtual classes, oversee the Program Coordinator in the creation of materials lists with live links for ordering.
  • Assist Executive Director in annual budgeting process to ensure successful revenue. generation of all course offerings; proactively advise on pricing modifications and competitive strategy.
  • Review course evaluations to optimize and tweak classes where necessary.
  • Support marketing initiatives through providing copy or other digital content as needed.
  • Collaborate with Office Administrator to set up classes in financial systems. 
  • Manage class cancellations, school closures, etc. under the direction the Executive Director.
  • Provide onsite office support as needed, including assistance at special events.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 3-5 years of experience in an arts-related organization (experience with arts education a plus)
  • Strong background in metal arts and/or jewelry making (BFA in metal arts preferred)
  • Experience with arts curriculum programming and/or project management preferred 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, particularly in an arts organization setting
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel and Power Point, CiviCRM, and Quickbooks
  • Highly detail oriented, ability to work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Experience managing staff, contractors or volunteers

 

WORK SCHEDULE

This is a full-time onsite position at Metalwerx Studio in Waltham, MA. Estimated 40 hours per week.
