Deb Lozier

Deborah Lozier is an internationally-known metalsmith, enamelist and instructor. Her studio practice involves fusing vitreous enamel onto fabricated copper and steel and she is best known for her early innovations on torch firing.

She is an adjunct professor at California College of the Arts and has taught countless workshops at institutions ranging from summer art programs in the English countryside to vocational studies at San Quentin State Prison. Working with students from such diverse points of view has informed her process with a rich understanding of the materials along with our universal desire to explore, create and invent.

Lozier's jewelry and sculpture have been published in numerous books and magazines, and she authored a chapter on Torch Fired Enamels for Lilyan Bachrach's book Enameling with Professionals. She has received artist grants from the City of Oakland and the Society of North American Goldsmiths, is a past president of the San Francisco Bay Area Metal Arts Guild and a former chair of the Public Art Advisory Committee for the City of Oakland. Along with many private collections, her work is included in the permanent collection of the Oakland Museum of California.
