Tube Bezels and Flush Setting

This course is currently full. Spaces do occasionally open up so if you would like to be put on the wait list please call our office at 781-891-3854 or email [email protected].

Explore tube and flush setting - popular contemporary setting styles that can add sparkle to jewelry without a great deal of expense! Each student will make a half-round sterling silver band ring that has a raised tube setting in the middle embellished with flush-set stones on each side. Both of these techniques are appropriate for small faceted stones.

  • Tube settings are a type of bezel that can be made using either thick-wall tubing or two pieces of thin-wall tubing soldered together. This will be demonstrated, but to save time, students will use a commercially available tube setting. Modifications on various tube bezels will be discussed.
  •
  • Flush-set stones are almost level with the metal they are set into. Students will cut seats on their rings and burnish the stones into place. We are not covering the gyspy setting, only a simple flush setting with faceted stones.
