Stone Setting Techniques for Metal Clay

Spend three Thursdays learning to build beautiful, custom settings in metal clay to hold stones that cannot be fired in a kiln. This intermediate metal clay course covers how to to embed fine silver bezels and prongs into metal clay pieces to set any stone, regardless of its heat tolerance.

Bezel wire and prongs will be fabricated using traditional silversmithing techniques. Then students will be shown how to securely affix their settings to metal clay. Once fired, Michela will demonstrated how to properly set stones sturdily in place.  Some metal clay experience is required and basic metalsmthing skills are helpful. Some metal clay experience is required, and while basic metalsmithing skills are not required, they are helpful.
