Portraits, Pets, and Pictures on Enamel!
Experience the magic of the laser cutting machine as a tool to etch your favorite photographs and imagery onto enamel. Have a favorite picture of your pup that makes you melt every time to look at it? Turn it into a pendant you can wear around your neck! Etch your cute little cat’s face into a sweet ring design! Or even turn a cherished portrait of a family member into a beloved keepsake! This weekend workshop will serve as an introduction to enameling, as well as working with the technology of the laser cutter in a very accessible way. Workshop participants will leave with multiple ready-to-wear pendants, earrings, or designs to take home and bezel set in your own studio.
Beginner or novice enamelists are welcome, as are experienced enamelists looking to expand their range of illustrative style work! Fundamental enameling steps will be covered, and numerous tips and tricks will come up along the way for those more experienced in the craft of enameling. Introductory jewelry making processes WILL NOT be covered. Jewelry 1 skill sets are required if you wish to make jewelry out of your enameled pieces! Introductory enameling techniques will be covered in full and the instructor will cover a fast and accessible way of using the laser cutter, which will be available for this course only.
Students are asked to email ([email protected]) a high contrast (black and white) image of their favorite pet, family portrait, landscape, animal, plant, flower, or other subject matter to us prior to the class, so the instructor has time to prep an image for each students prior to class! More images can be prepped during the course of the class. Images must be submitted no later than one week prior to class start date.
