Bezels 4 Ways in Gold!!!!
This workshop explores methods for making bezels in gold. Students will learn different ways to construct bezels and best practices for setting stones in 22K 18K, and 14K gold. Paulette will cover step by step instructions for working with cabochons and faceted stones through four sample projects: open back bezel, step bezel for a faceted stone, and closed back bezel with a gold backplate or Argentium Silver backplate. There will be demonstrations to create a simple bail for a pendant, solder on an ear post and more to turn samples into finished pieces after the workshop.
Paulette will be demonstrating with 14KT, 18KT or 22KT gold and combinations with silver or Argentium silver. Demos Include:
- Closed Back Bezel in gold with gold backing and sterling or AR Silver backing
- Open back bezel for cabochon stone
- Step bezel for a cabochon in gold or gold and silver
- Step bezel for a facetted stone in gold!
Meet the instructor

Paulette Werger is a metalsmith and teacher who works in Lebanon, NH. She sells her work both nationally and internationally and is owner of Metalpeople East, a jewelry and hollow ware studio. She has taught metalsmithing at the University of WI, Montana State University, and at craft schools throughout the country.
Materials & Tools
There is an estimated $400 materials fee for this class that is payable to the instructor in class. Precious metals prices fluctuate daily, the provided cost is an estimate only; a precise figure will be provided to enrollees closer to the workshop start date.
A detailed list of materials will be sent upon registration and closer to the course start date. Paulette will provide all materials needed including gems, pearls, gold, silver, bezel wire and sheet stock for sale directly to students.
