Metalwerx is Hiring a Program Manager!

Description: Reporting to the Executive Director, the Program Manager is responsible for assisting Metalwerx in reaching goals related to customer service, sales, productivity, and effectiveness. The PM is the primary person to handle the day-to-day operations of classes at Metalwerx.  This person also performs essential organizational functions to maintain the business of Metalwerx and enjoys frequent interaction with students, artists, educators, visitors, and vendors with the goal of promoting a supportive, enthusiastic environment for all constituents.

Objective: The Program Manager is responsible for managing and executing the course curriculum which involves preparation, promotion, student and teacher communication, as well as various administrative tasks. The Program Manager regularly compiles information on community member needs and conveys relevant financial, customer service and facility information to the ED during weekly meetings.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and execute the class and workshop curriculum including handling contracts, materials preparation, instructor support and correspondence, student registrations and relations, marketing, review evaluations, etc.
  • Handle customer service needs as appropriate and build customer relationships including greeting visitors and providing information and assistance to students, faculty, members, donors, outside agencies, vendors and the public.
  • With support from the Program Assistant, the Program Manager will perform and oversee regular administrative tasks including but not limited to answering the phone, handling mail, communications, working with vendors and suppliers, etc.
  • Place pre-approved orders with vendors and contact service providers for materials kits, repairs, maintenance, office supplies and other business needs.
  • With support from the Marketing and Events Coordinator, the Program Manager will actively find ways to promote Metalwerx to the public, post relevant content to social media platforms, track student interests, maintain mailing lists, prepare email newsletters and printed brochures.
  • Provide support for fundraising events, initiatives and grant opportunities. This may include some writing, preparing and tracking donation thank you notes, researching, as well as identifying prospective donors from student and event interactions.
  • Be available for special events coverage.

Qualifications:

  • Should enjoy working with people as they are the first contact that students have with Metalwerx; and we take pride in creating a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, planning, organization, strong communication, relationship-building, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced workplace and gain inspiration from Metalwerx’s creative environment. Proficiency with standard office software, including MS Office Suite and QuickBooks. Photoshop, Drupal, Database Management, and Social Media knowledge helpful. Comfort with learning new technology is important.
  • Knowledge of metalsmithing/jewelry making preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in arts administration, non-profit arts organization, education, communication studies, business, English, or other arts fields is preferred.
  • Successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytical and problem-solving skills that enable sound decision-making.
