Metal Clay: Creating Textures and Molds

Course Description

About this course

Students will learn how to create molds and textures that are uniquely their own. Many methods of mold and texture making will be demonstrated, to include 2-part silicone mold making, photopolymer plates, polymer clay tearaways, and others. Students will leave with many texture plates and molds at the end of class, as well as a finished silver metal clay piece or two. Beginners to advanced students are welcomed in this class. 


Meet the Instructor

Michela Verani

Michela is an artist who works primarily in metal clay and felt. Her metal clay, felt and beaded work have won numerous awards. Since beginning in metal clay, she has achieved Art Clay 1/Senior certification, Rio Rewards Certification, and Metal Clay Master's Registry III. She has authored articles for Fired Arts & Crafts, Art Jewelry, Bead Trends, Metal Clay Today, Metal Clay Artist, The Art Clay Society Quarterly and Bead Unique. Her work has been featured in a number of the PMC Guild Annuals and other books on jewelry.

Materials & Tools 

There is a $90 materials fee for this course that is payable upon registration. The materials kit includes all the supplies needed to create each mold and texture technique taught in class plus a 20 gram package of metal clay. Students may require additional clay depending on their projects. It will be available for purchase as necessary.

Students should bring 
  • Tool kits are provided for use during class, but students can bring their favorite tools if desired.
