Jingle Bells! Forming and Fabricating a Holiday Keepsake
Ring in the holiday season by forming and fabrication your very own jingle bell! Over the course of just one day, students can expect to learn the forming techniques needed to create a bell that rings. Participants will first cut out their bell shape from flat NuGold sheet metal, then using dapping punches and blocks they will hammer the form of the jingle bell, and finish off by polishing and adding wire for hanging.
Meet the instructor
Diane received her BFA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, in 1983. She has continued to expand her skills and artistic horizons in her studio in Woburn, Massachusetts, and also in advanced jewelry and silversmithing classes at the DeCordova Museum School in Lincoln, Massachusetts. Diane favorite techniques include fabricating mokume, pave settings, raising, hot twisting, and soldered applique.
Materials & Tools
There is a $30 materials fee for this workshop that is payable upon registration. The materials kit includes 22g and 24g NuGold sheet, a 1/2" dapping punch, NuGold wire, and a wooden block.
- 8oz Ballpeen hammer (suggested but not required)
- Dapping block (suggested but not required)
- If students would like to work in sterling silver, they should bring at least 2"x2" of 22g sterling sheet as well as 6" of 16g sterling silver wire.
