Earrings in a Day

Join us for a fun and fast paced earring intensive and create a couple new pairs to wear home! Demonstrations consist of basic wire forging as well as surface texture options for metal sheet. Students will also learn to make various types of ear wires and how to solder on a post.
The instructor will bring her personal earring collection to show the endless possibilities for earring design, but a selection of her work can be found on her website moniquerancourt.com
Meet the instructor
Monique Rancourt is a Contemporary Jeweler residing in Waltham, Massachusetts. In 2008 Monique received her BFA with a concentration in metalsmithing and Jewelry from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
Monique practices traditional metalsmithing and jewelry techniques, creating Jewelry that is inspired by historical references, specifically traditional body adornment of the Pacific Islands and Africa. Keeping these traditions in mind Monique pushes the limits of traditional techniques exploring form and pattern from the environment in which we live.
Monique currently works and lives at Lincoln studios and Teaches at Metalwerx in Waltham Massachusetts.
Materials & Tools
There is an estimated $15 materials kit payable at class. It includes silver, copper, and other supplies for earring projects (one in silver and one in copper). Additional silver will be available for purchase from the instructor as necessary.
Students Supply List:
- Pencil, sketchbook
- Ultra Fine Point Sharpie Permanent Marker
- Items that provide texture, such as feathers, lace, fabric, etc. NO STEEL! Whatever you use will be destroyed, so no family heirloom lace, please.
- Safety glasses or reading glasses for working up close. Metalwerx has some available to use, but please bring a pair if you prefer your own.
